In 1990, Derby Baptist Church commenced holding meetings in Broome. From 1991 – 1996, Graham and Lyn Hendry became the first resident pastors of this group and so began a permanent ministry that was built on pastoral care.
In 1997 Andrew and Venita Rutley led this group, known as Broome Baptist Fellowship, while Andrew was also Broome Senior High Chaplain.
From 2001 – 2004, Keith and Julie Ware pastored the church and facilitated the process of affiliation into the Western Australian Baptist family of churches, and so on 18 March 2001 Broome Baptist Church became a fully constituted member of the Western Australian Baptist Union.
Over the years there have been periods between pastors when significant members have stepped up to maintain the church’s witness in the town.
